Umpires

West Middleton Youth Baseball and Softball offers work opportunities for umpires from entry/development level up through advanced levels for the Babe Ruth teams.  The leagues and umpire qualifications are listed below.  If you are interested in working as an umpire, send the following information to:

Cardinal League- 9-10 year old girls pitch. Games can be played on Monday or Wednesday nights. Previous softball playing is recommended. The umpire can call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher. Pay is $20 per game.

Minor League- 11-12 year old girls pitch. Games can be played on Monday or Wednesday nights. Previous softball playing is recommended. The umpire can call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher. A player parent can volunteer to help as well. Pay is $20 per game.

Little Bucks - 9-10 yr old player pitch league - Games  can be played on Monday, Wednesday or Friday nights.
Qualifications - This is the entry level umpiring job.  Umpires must be 12 yrs old (11 yrs old will be allowed with experience) or older and have played baseball for at least 4 years.  The umpire works behind the plate and a parent volunteer umps in the field.  It is recommended that the umpire have a mentor/parent assist them in the first couple of gmes.  If you need a mentor, ask and one will be assigned.  Pay is $20 per game.

Cal Ripken 10U Games on Tuesday and Friday
Qualifications - This is initial level of competitive baseball and umpires are expected to have some experience umpiring and playing competitive baseball.  Minimum age is 12.  There are two umpires (one behind the plate and one in the field).  Less experienced umps will be paired with a more experienced ump and initially work in the field.  Pay is $30 per game for plate duty and $25 per game in the field.

Cal Ripken 12U 46/60 Diamond  Monday and Friday
Qualifications - This is competitive baseball and umpires are expected to have experience umpiring and playing competitive baseball.  There is no leading off by base runners or balks.  Minimum age is 13.  There are two umpires (one behind the plate and one in the field).  Less experienced umps will be paired with a more experienced ump and initially work in the field. 
Pay is $30 per game for plate duty and $25 per game in the field.

Cal Ripken 12U 50/70 Diamond Monday and Friday
Qualifications - This is competitive baseball and umpires are expected to have experience umpiring and playing competitive baseball at the Babe Ruth/Senior Little League or similar level.  Base runner can lead off and balks will be called.  Umpires must be skilled at these rules.  Minimum age is 14.  There are two umpires (one behind the plate and one in the field).  Less experienced umps will be paired with a more experienced ump and initially work in the field.  Pay is $30 per game ($40 for WIAA certified adult umpires).

Babe Ruth 13-15U - 60/90 Diamond Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
Qualifications - This is competitive baseball on full size adult diamond.  WIAA adult certified umpires are preferred.  Umpires must be knowledgable in all baseball rules for this level and have experience in umpiring at this level (Babe Ruth, Senior Little League, high school, home talent,...). Minimum age is 16.  Pay is $45 per game for WIAA certified adult umpires and $30 for youth umpires.

Senior Babe Ruth - 60/90 Diamond Wednesday and Friday
Qualifications - This is competitive baseball for 16-18 year old players.  WIAA certified adult umpires are used behind the plate and preferred in the field.  Minimum age is 19.  Pay is $45 per game for WIAA certified adult umpires and $30 for youth umpires.
